June 14, – Last night we went to the Place Jemaa el Fna… and saw the snake charmers, african dancers, food stalls everywhere, monkeys doing all sorts of tricks, musicians, and a lot of carnival acts. It was like no other festival EVER!!! There were literally several thousand people at this Place…lots of good kebobs, bread, rice, spices, and other cooked goodies. We left at sunset to go to dinner.
Today we walked to the “New City” of Marrakech and had a lovely lunch at french place and walked back. The horse and carriage’s drive along with the other taxi’s, cars, trucks, busses, motorized bikes, motorcycles and there are clearly two or three lane markers in the streets, but they drive about 6 abreast all the time. It’s crazy.. really crazy…
We had to relax by the pool when we got back around 5:00 PM and went to a real Moroccon restaurant tonight and the tables and chairs were like sitting at a kindergarten school desk… But I loved them b/c my feet touched the floor and the tables were shorter. I posted a picture of Norm’s salad.. ( A 15 PLATE ORDEAL!!! ) I’ll insert in this post also. Rita and Norm

This picture and the one with the bus are all in the same lane, going the same direction. There are only two lanes, but most people drive like there are 5 here.

This is the other side of the taxi while driving along side the horse and carriage, electric bikes, motor cycles, and other cars!
Everything looks so vibrant, colorful and intense. Very stimulating and beautiful and you can go back your hotel and the pool and then just relax. Wonderful!

Heard a lot of interesting music on this trip. Techno, bagpipes jazz, African, sacred music, and American classics. Go to Portugal on Sunday. I hope to hear some soulful fado.
