Today, we visited the Suleymaniye Mosque. This is one of the finest creations of the Ottoman Empire. It was finished in 1557, after 5 years of construction. The blue, white and gold dome contains 200 stained glass windows. Then, we walked through the Spice Market, where they sell every spice known to man, stacked in large quantities in a triangular shape. After the Spice Market, we saw the New Mosque, which was completed in 1663, which has an interior decorated with blue tiles. This evening we went to new town or modern town in Eastern Europe Istanbul to get drinks at Mickla, on the 18th floor of the Hotel Marmara Pera. Mickla has a beautiful view of the city particularly at sunset.
After drinks, we had dinner at 360, a rooftop restaurant with a great view of old town Istanbul. Of course, we spent our entire evening in the Taksim Square area of Istanbul where two months ago there were riots. We saw only young people enjoying a great evening out on the town!
Istanbul, Turkey

Went to one of the top restaurants rated for its beautiful view of Istanbul at sunset. This is what we got!

The look on Norm’s face when he saw the view. He is also singing, “Why does this always happen to me?”
Here are a few more of the Palace, the view from the Garden and then we saw another wedding photo shoot going on.
Here are the pictures of the Blue Mosque, had to wear a scarf over my head to go inside. My shoulders and knees also had to be covered.
Then we went to see Haggia Sophia, it was pretty awesome.
Then this is what we found in the “underground”.. definitely not a subway!
BEAUTIFUL!!!
